HOW TO CREATE AN E-MAIL ACCOUNT

Setting up an e-mail account is easy with BeautyJobs as a resource. Simply choose from the list of free e-mail service providers below and sign-up for the one you like best. Specific instructions for signing up for Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Hotmail are also provided for your convenience.

GMail

  1. Enter http://www.google.com into the address bar and press enter. 2. Click on “Gmail” in the upper left hand corner.
3. Click on “Sign up for Gmail.”
4. In the identified boxes, enter your first name, last name and desired username.
5. Click on “check availability” (you may have to select another username if the one you want is taken).
6. Select a password.
7. You’ll have the option to check a box that gives the computer permission to remember your login information. If you check this box, you will not need to sign back in on that particular computer each time you use it. If you are using a public computer that has multiple users, you should leave the box blank to ensure your privacy. You will have to provide your login name and password each time you use this computer. (Depending on your provider, this box may be automatically checked, so you will have to uncheck it if you do not want the computer to remember your login information.)
8. Select a security question.
9. Location: The box will default to the Unites States.
10. Word verification: Type the letters exactly as they appear (this allows the e-mail provider to verify that an individual is signing up for an account).
11. Review all your information to make sure it is correct.
12. Review the Terms of Service, Program Policy and the Privacy Policy and if you agree, click: “I accept. Create my account box.”
13. Next you will see a page that says: “Introduction to Gmail. Congratulations! You have successfully signed up for Gmail. Here are three things you really should know before you get started.” Review the information, then click on the link that says, “I’m ready—show me my account.”
14. There will be two new messages in your e-mail inbox. The first message will be titled, “Gmail is different. Here’s what you need to know.” This message will offer you information about Gmail and how it works. The second message will be titled, “It’s easy to switch to Gmail!” This message will be helpful if you’re switching from another e-mail account.


Yahoo Mail

  1. Enter http://www.yahoo.com into the address bar and press enter.
2. Click on “My Mail” in the upper left hand corner.
3. In the bottom right hand corner it will read, “Don’t have a Yahoo ID? Signing up is easy. Sign Up.” Click on the “Sign Up” link.
4. Any box marked with a yellow asterisk must be completed.
5. In the identified boxes, enter your first and last name.
6. The Preferred Content box will default to: Yahoo! US
7. Using the drop box, select gender.
8. In the Yahoo! I.D. box, enter your desired username and click on “Check Availability.” If the username is unavailable, Yahoo will give options to select another username.
9. Select a password and enter in both boxes for verification.
10. Select a security question. There will be nine questions to choose from. Enter your answer in the box marked, “Your answer.”
11. Enter birthday (first box = month, second box = date, third box = four digit year).
12. Enter zip code in the box marked: ZIP/Postal Code.
13. Word verification: Type the letters exactly as they appear (this allows the e-mail provider to verify an individual is signing up for e-mail).
14. Review all information to make sure it is correct.
15. Review Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and if you agree, click: “I Agree.”
16. Next you will see a page that says: “Registration Completed: Welcome (your ID name)!”
17. Yahoo recommends printing out the welcome page for future reference.
18. There will be a new message in your e-mail inbox titled, “Welcome to Yahoo.” This message will offer information about Yahoo! and how it works.


Hotmail

  1. Enter http://www.hotmail.com into the address bar and press enter.
2. Click on the “Sign Up” box in the middle of the left hand side.
3. Click on “GET IT FREE Windows Live Hotmail” (you may choose to go with the Windows Live Hotmail Plus, but it is not free).
4. In the Windows Live ID box, choose a username and Hotmail will automatically check availability.
5. Select a password.
6. Select a security question. There will be six different questions to choose from. Enter your answer.
7. In the identified boxes, enter your first and last name.
8. Next, enter the four-digit year of your birth.
9. “Country/Region” will default to United States.
10. Select the state you live in and enter your five-digit zip code.
11. Word verification: Type the letters exactly as they appear (this allows the e-mail provider to verify an individual is signing up for an account).
12. Review all your information to make sure it’s correct.
13. Review Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and if you agree, click: “I Accept.”
14. Next you will see a page that says: “Now that you've created your account, choose which way you want to do e-mail.” Click: “Give me the full version.”
15. There will be one new message in your e-mail inbox titled, “Get the Most from Windows Live Hotmail.” This message will offer information about Hotmail and how it works.
